Cannes Boat Rental 2026

What to Know
Before You Book

Types of Boat Charter Available in Cannes

Private charter: The entire boat is exclusively yours. No other passengers at any point. Itinerary tailored to your wishes. This is what Nikaia Yachts provides — and the most rewarding option for any group.

Shared charter: You join other passengers on a scheduled departure. Lower cost per person, but no privacy, no flexibility, and no ability to customise the route.

Self-drive rental: You charter the boat without a skipper. Requires a valid French or internationally recognised boat licence and practical experience. Not recommended for visitors unfamiliar with local waters.

What Should Be Included in a Cannes Boat Rental

A quality private charter in Cannes should include: the vessel, a professional licensed skipper, and fuel for the agreed itinerary. These should be covered in the advertised price — not listed as separate supplements. At Nikaia, our day charter from €2,050 includes all three, with no additions at the marina.

Questions to Ask Before Booking Any Cannes Boat Rental

Is the skipper's licence current and the vessel commercially insured? What is the legal maximum passenger count? Is fuel included or charged separately? Can the itinerary be adjusted on the day? What is the weather cancellation policy? What equipment is available on board?

Catamaran vs Monohull Yacht in Cannes

For groups on the French Riviera, a motor catamaran offers several advantages over a monohull yacht of equivalent size. The twin-hull design provides complete stability at anchor — essential for swimming, dining, and longer stops in coves. The living space is significantly larger. A catamaran's shallow draft allows anchoring closer to the beaches of the Lérins Islands. For groups who want comfort and space as much as sailing, the catamaran is consistently the better choice.

Lérins Islands (20 min)

The premier destination for a boat rental from Cannes. Two islands, one marine reserve, turquoise water, medieval monastery. The most popular and most rewarding day trip. Complete Lérins guide →

Esterel Coast (45 min)

Red volcanic cliffs descending directly into the Mediterranean. Dramatic, largely uninhabited, with sea-access anchorages that road-based visitors never discover. Best experienced in the morning light.

Saint-Tropez (3.5 hours)

The iconic destination on the French Riviera — best arrived at from the sea, bypassing the summer road traffic entirely. Ideal for overnight charters with 4 private cabins.

Monaco (3 hours)

Arriving in Monaco by private catamaran, anchored in the principality's harbour with the Grand Prix circuit visible from deck, is one of the most distinctive experiences the Riviera offers.

Making Your Booking

Step-by-Step:
How to Book a Boat in Cannes

The process for booking a private catamaran in Cannes is simpler than many guests expect. The following steps apply to all Nikaia Yachts charters.

Step 1 — Initial contact. Send a WhatsApp message or email with your preferred date, group size, and any initial preferences about the itinerary (full day, sunset, overnight). The fastest response is via WhatsApp — we typically reply within the hour during business hours.

Step 2 — Availability confirmation. We confirm whether your preferred date is available and discuss any alternative dates if needed. For event weeks (MIPIM, Film Festival), we advise on availability immediately — demand during these periods is high and slots are limited.

Step 3 — Itinerary discussion. We discuss what your group wants from the day. Lérins Islands, Esterel coast, or a mix? Lunch at anchor or at a sea-access restaurant? Champagne package? Any specific preferences or occasions to note (proposals, birthdays)? Your skipper may have recommendations based on forecast conditions for the day.

Step 4 — Written confirmation and deposit. We send a written booking summary confirming the date, duration, price, and itinerary. A deposit by bank transfer secures the reservation. The balance is due before the charter date. All terms are provided in writing.

Step 5 — Day of charter. Arrive at Port Canto at the agreed time. The catamaran will be ready and your skipper will be waiting. Boarding takes a few minutes. By the time you have settled on deck, Port Canto is behind you and the bay is ahead.

The entire process from initial contact to confirmed booking typically takes one or two exchanges. There is no complicated form or booking platform — just a direct conversation with the team behind the charter.

Cannes Charter — Key Information

What Every Guest
Should Know

Legal capacity: The maximum permitted passenger count on commercial charters in France is 12 guests. No exceptions. Groups larger than 12 should contact us about coordinating multiple charters on the same day, which we can arrange with partner operators.

Weather and cancellation: The Riviera has excellent weather, but safety comes first. If conditions are unsuitable for charter on your booked date, your skipper makes the call. We offer rescheduling as the primary remedy — full details in the booking confirmation terms.

Children: Children are welcome and the catamaran is well-suited to families. Life jackets in children's sizes are on board. The stability of the catamaran at anchor makes it appropriate for younger guests. Inform us of the ages of any children in your group when booking.

Accessibility: The catamaran is accessible to guests with limited mobility for the main deck and saloon. The rooftop solarium requires a ladder. Boarding from the marina uses a standard gangway. Contact us to discuss any specific needs in advance.

Photography and video: Many guests want to document a day on the water. The catamaran's positions — anchored in the Lérins Islands marine reserve, framing the Croisette from the sea — produce exceptional photographs. Inform us if you are bringing professional photography equipment; we can advise on the best timing and positions. For more on what a typical day looks like in practice, the Lérins Islands day itinerary provides a detailed hour-by-hour reference.
